By special request for Bill and Felbrigg, I have delved into a grimdark version of the images I posted awhile ago. I imagine this as a sort of 'adult' version of Redwall, perhaps combine Joe Abercrombie's novels with Redwall? I don't know. Anyway, here are some cool images.
Actually, now that I think about this, that sounds really, really cool. I am not a big furry guy (I think its weird, but you do you) but the idea of an adult fantasy Redwall/First Law mashup sounds pretty badass to be honest.
The pictures are very cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with Redwall, other than it's small animals (I believe mice specifically), but your pictures make me think of a fantasy version of Mrs. Frisby & the Rats of NIMH.
Thanks, again!
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays!
Merry Christmas!
DeleteYeah I read a few of the books when I was younger, mostly idyllic fantasy where the good guys dress in white, bad guys in black sort of thing. I remember them fondly but nothing too special. Now, the Rats of NIMH was something I LOVED as a kid. The idea that these monumental struggles were happen just under our noses was exciting to me, that this entire world existed just out of sight. I believe this was fed by a love of "The Cricket in Times Square" book I read as a kid.
NIMH plus an even more sinister Watership Down. I love this entire landscape.
DeleteSadly, I must admit to have never read Watership Down! I shall need to remedy this error in judgement as quickly as possible!
DeleteI feel as though distantly maybe twenty years ago we may have purchased a battered softback copy of WD at a used book store in South Carolina. I don't think I ever turned a page. The better reference if you have the time is to simply watch the Watership Down "movie" which may be available through YouTube. Created somewhere in the mid to late 1970's, for many years it was credited with being the most violent cartoon ever broadcast. Watching the movie gets the job done. Also I can't get Templeton from Charlotte's Web entirely out of my mind.
DeleteI think your concept and rendering(s) are fantastic. Where does it go from here? is my question.
Grimwall for the win!!! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteGrimwall! LOVE IT!
